Collector Spotlight: “Shifting Seasons” in Copenhagen, Denmark

It often crosses my mind as I work on a new painting where and with whom this artwork will eventually end up. I've learned over the years that as much fun as it is to mull over these questions, it's impossible to predict the answers.

When I do meet the collectors of my art, it’s a fun surprise – always special to learn who a painting speaks to and see where I'll be sending it into the world.

Last year, as I painted "Shifting Seasons," I never could have predicted it would end up in Copenhagen, Denmark. Nor could I have imagined what the painting would represent in the lives of the thoughtful collectors who connected with it.

"Will it be possible to sign the painting on the back ‘to Wilma?'" Oliver asked as we finished arranging the shipping details.

I answered that I would be happy to dedicate the artwork to Wilma – assuming the painting was a heartfelt anniversary gift or birthday present and giving it little thought beyond this.

In a follow-up email, he made a correction to the original request.

"If you can write "til Wilma" instead of "to Wilma" we would prefer that."

Then he explained further, "Til in Danish is to, and we want it to be in Danish."

Then, Oliver explained that the artwork was being dedicated to the collectors' soon-to-be-born daughter, Wilma, due in a month from our conversation.

Wilma's parents, my new collectors, wanted to buy her a gift. They felt a connection with my artwork and appreciated that I was a female artist, born the same year as them.

Hearing this, I thought about how "Shifting Seasons" - a name and painting representing change - would become synonymous with the birth of a new life and new chapter in this family's home. And I felt so blessed.

I'm constantly amazed by how we all have the ability to form unique emotional connections to the artwork we see. And I always love seeing my work take on new significance and meaning in the lives of its collectors.

After sending my painting to Oliver and his family in Copenhagen, he was kind enough to share photos of where they hung it. I gasped when I saw them.

He also offered me kind feedback about my artwork and the process of working together with permission to pass them along to you.

What about your Anna Núñez artwork moved you to collect it?

"We were truly captivated by how Anna Núñez's artwork manages to combine simplicity with incredible depth. The vibrant colors evoke a sense of childlike wonder—like being a kid on a playground, free to create without boundaries. It feels both playful and sophisticated, which is a rare balance to strike. We also loved that Anna is the same age as us, making it even more special to support a young, talented artist whose work genuinely resonates with us."

How did it feel to display your Anna Núñez painting in your home?

"Hanging the painting in our living room felt like the final puzzle piece falling into place. We had been looking for the perfect artwork to complete our space, and this piece did just that—elevating the entire room. We've received so many compliments from guests; nearly everyone who visits has something wonderful to say about it."

What would you say to someone considering collecting an Anna Nunez original?

"Just do it! — you won't regret it! Anna's work has the power to transform a room, especially if you lean towards a modern and minimalistic interior style like we do. Plus, Anna herself is an absolute pleasure to work with—so kind and helpful. We couldn't recommend her and her art more highly!"

Do you have any final thoughts?

"Supporting young and talented artists like Anna is incredibly fulfilling. Her work not only adds beauty to our home but also feels like an investment in creativity and artistic vision. We're so glad we took the leap!"

Thank you so much to Oliver for his time and permission to share this collector spotlight.
