Anna Núñez is an artist + abstract painter based in St. Petersburg, Florida.

B I O :

Anna Núñez (b. 1995) creates gestural, mixed-media paintings that explore the overlap between her Christian faith and the mysterious nature of the creative process.

Anna holds a bachelor's degree in studio art with minors in marketing and advertising from Florida Gulf Coast University. After graduating, she spent six years as a graphic designer, building a boutique branding agency and education business.

In 2021, however, she had an epiphany that her true passion for painting had been sitting on the sidelines for far too long. Recognizing that life is short, she completely pivoted her career to pursue becoming a fine artist.

Since then, she has participated in group exhibitions, independently sold work to private collectors worldwide, and partnered with Sugarlift, a NYC gallery, to offer her work to a broader audience.

S T A T E M E N T :

My artwork explores themes of control and release, my emotional responses to color, and the intersection of my Christian faith with the creative process.

Painting humbles and excites me. I approach large canvases as a servant to my work and a child at play – endlessly fascinated by the interaction of colors and the tactile sensation of working with a mixture of paint, pastels, and pencils.

My marks convey prayers, reflections on scripture, and powerful emotions, drawing inspiration from artists such as Twombly, Frankenthaler, and Albers.

The creative energy flowing through me feels divinely guided as I embrace my calling to create artwork with humility and reverence, always pointing back to God as my source of fulfillment and inspiration.
