Anna Núñez is an artist + abstract painter based in Nashville, Tennessee.

B I O :

Anna Núñez (b. 1995) creates gestural, mixed-media paintings inspired by the emotional language of color and the intuitive nature of the creative process. Rooted in her Christian faith, she approaches painting as a practice of humility, surrender, and trust.

She earned a bachelor's degree in Studio Art, with minors in Marketing and Advertising, from Florida Gulf Coast University. After graduating, she spent six years building a branding agency and creative education business before transitioning to fine art full-time in 2021.

Today, Anna's work is held in private collections around the world and has been featured through collaborations with Sugarlift, Tacit Collective, Croft House, Anthropologie, and Artfully Walls.

S T A T E M E N T :

Each of my paintings begins with color. Before thinking about composition or mark-making, I build palettes inspired by a particular place, season, or feeling. I'm fascinated by the way color preserves memory, communicates emotion, and means something different to each person who experiences it.

I paint abstractly because the process invites me to approach creativity with open hands—painting humbles and excites me at the same time. Working intuitively allows me to make discoveries I could never have planned, and I'm continually drawn to the tension between spontaneity and intention. I strive for each painting to look as though it came together in an instant, even though it's built through many careful layers of painting and editing.

My studio is where I balance two sides of myself: making marks with the freedom of a child while guiding the composition with the discernment of an adult. It's in those unexpected moments that a painting truly comes to life.

My Christian faith quietly shapes every part of my process. Before I begin painting, I pray, take a deep breath, and remind myself that creativity is a gift from God. The most meaningful moments in the studio are often the ones I can't explain—when a painting becomes something I never could have planned. Those moments continue to teach me to let go of control and trust God in both my work and my life.
