Storm on the Sea of Galilee

This painting is the second in a series of paintings titled Storm on the Sea of Galilee.

Inspired by one of my favorite Bible stories and one of my favorite paintings (Rembrandt’s Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee), I see this painting as a meditation on my faith and a reminder that I can always cling to God amid life’s harshest storms. I can trust that He will calm the waves that frighten me.

What I love so much about this canvas is that while it’s very dark at first glance, looking at it longer will reveal more light, markings, and hues that symbolize hope in the midst of darkness.
