In a similar way that my painting Through the Trees resembles a comforting reference from everyday life, Orange Peels reminds me of my home in Florida—a place known most for its sunshine and citrus. This painting makes me feel grounded and calm despite all the movement in the marks of the composition.

I wasn’t planning on the reference of oranges emerging from the paint as I was working, but it’s all I saw once the piece was completed. Making abstract art has this lovely way of teaching me to release control and trust God – in the studio and in life.
