Open My Eyes is a painting about taking chances and making bold moves. After working on it for several weeks without much confidence that it would become anything more than scraps for another piece, I realized what it was missing—risk. I reached for my navy and dark brown paints and began layering over the once pale, airy composition. The energy that emerged from that decision completely transformed the work, and my hope is that it inspires viewers to live with the same sense of boldness and confidence.
